This thread is for us to throw out ideas about who we think would be good speakers and what main topics we should consider.

I am not sure if you are planning to start a new thread for ideas on what groups to outreach for membership, but I had a few suggestions. Considering I am fairly new to the coalition myself, some of these may already be involved but here a few ideas.
* Commission on Quality of Care & Advocacy for Persons with Disabilities
www.cqc.state.ny.us (http://www.cqc.state.ny.us)
* Consumers Union
* American Council on Science & Health
* Center for Justice & Democracy
* National Coalition of Mental Health Professionals & Consumers Inc.
* Certain schools of Gerentology (I know Brookdale Center has an SMP program that targets the Chinese and Korean population)

As far as speakers go, it was difficult to hear on the phone what direction you were planning on taking with the targeted audience. If you are planning to go with professionals, maybe CMS could do something on updates to Medicare or new initiatives. I will keep thinking of more ideas and continue to post them here.
