Hi Marie, your choice of programs are contingent on many factors; depending how far along you were earning your degree - the transfer of credits to an online program was a challenge for me; the degree you are aiming towards is a big factor - I'm a proud graduate of the University of Phoenix graduate nursing program - I also know 3 other nurses that graduated with the same positive experience. I can tell you the program is outstanding, the professors were all doctorate level, and the program is accredited; for me, these were important factors and as an adult learner (who lives in the mountains) this was a great choice of programs. You will not save any money by online learning...my research on programs yielded the same cost for online as classroom learning. You also need to experienced enough to benefit from this type of program, my strong opinion is that young learners benefit from the mentorship’s and one on one relationships with faculty in a classroom setting and not benefit as much as an adult learner, but that is just my opinion. Another consideration is how rigorous of a program are you looking for? The UOP program are 3 credit, 6 week courses, with one week in between each class, this puts you at a full time status. The first year was great, but the last 1.5 years was torture. I recommend University of Phoenix for nursing and business (can't speak to their other programs).

Hope this helps...good luck to you!!

Wouldn't you think that on campus experience with the professors and such would be more beneficial and possibly less time consuming that the rigorous online courses described above?

Absolutely, the rigor is based on the time needed to justify completed class/work time.

I was born and raised in New York City, attended Fordham University and transferred to the nursing program at the College of Mount Saint Vincent, I was lucky to have had the best campus experience that a young person can have. I now live in rural New York (in the Adirondacks) where the closest college campus (in any direction) ranges from 60 to 100 miles ONE WAY! As an adult learner and having environmental limitations - this was a great choice for me. As I stated in my earlier response, this is not for everyone.

Have a good day!

Thanks for your input...
So you finished your master's degree now in nursing?
You finish it in 2 yr straight?
I was checkin on Walden University, but my options are still open...
Congratulations by the way for your perseverence.
So how do you like where you are now?
I love it there...i just visited once.

To Allen,

Thanks for your input too.
I work full time Mondays thru Firdays...
I take calls, I work in the operating room...
I think I have better chance doing it online than campus.
