The Teamwork-Technique: Achieving Critical Care Excellence project is a seven month (9-07 through 3-08) initiative that combines aviation's crew resource management (CRM) and high impact and/or new and forthcoming CMS related critical care best practices. Project was sponsored through a New York State Assembly Grant, and through partnerships with New York State Department of Health and IPRO.
Although focused on critical care, all the CRM and much of the clinical education is beneficial for other high-intensity, multi-disciplinary environments such as the OR/PACU, ED, Labor & Delivery, Cath Labs, Procedural Suites and Clinical Units. There are over 100 hospitals participating.

“Although essential to quality and patient safety, effective communication and teamwork is challenging. HANYS has organized these programs to provide member hospitals with vital strategies for fine-tuning their complex systems—something that will be critical to ongoing success in a value-based purchasing environment."
