NEW YORK, NY - The Brooklyn Hospital Center (http://www.healthcareitnews.com/informResults.cms?origin=8225&keywords=Brooklyn+Hospital+Center), a 463-bed academic community hospital, plans to implement an integrated clinical information system in both the acute and ambulatory care environments.
TBHC, which is affiliated with the New York (http://www.healthcareitnews.com/informResults.cms?origin=8225&keywords=New+York) Presbyterian Healthcare (http://www.healthcareitnews.com/informResults.cms?origin=8225&keywords=Presbyterian+Healthcare) System and the Weill Medical College of Cornell University (http://www.healthcareitnews.com/informResults.cms?origin=8225&keywords=Weill+Medical+College+of+Cornell+Universi ty), has chosen the Sunrise Clinical Manager from Atlanta-based Eclipsys (http://www.healthcareitnews.com/informResults.cms?origin=8225&keywords=Eclipsys+Corporation).
The implementation includes the company's Sunrise Acute Care, Ambulatory Care, Critical Care, and Emergency Care modules, as well as the Sunrise Pharmacy and Sunrise Knowledge-Based Medication Administration modules.
"As our organization continues its turnaround, we felt it was critical to implement a clinical information system to show our community that we are utilizing technology to help improve how we deliver care," said Sam Lehrfeld (http://www.healthcareitnews.com/informResults.cms?origin=8225&keywords=Sam+Lehrfeld), TBHC's chief executive officer.
TBHC's leadership wants its caregivers to have access to their patients' up-to-date health record across departments and facilities. By implementing integrated products in both the inpatient and outpatient environments, the hospital's physicians will only have to learn one user interface. TBHC says this can help ensure physician adoption of the system and improved efficiency.
"Sunrise Clinical Manager and the Eclipsys (http://www.healthcareitnews.com/informResults.cms?origin=8225&keywords=Eclipsys+Corporation) XA architecture gives us the modern integrated platform we need to better coordinate care delivery across our expanding enterprise, while also enabling us to participate in regional health information organization initiatives," said Irene Farrelly (http://www.healthcareitnews.com/informResults.cms?origin=8225&keywords=Irene+Farrelly), TBHC's chief information officer.
TBHC intends to leverage the evidence-based order sets in Eclipsys (http://www.healthcareitnews.com/informResults.cms?origin=8225&keywords=Eclipsys+Corporation) Knowledge-Based CPOE to help drive adherence to established practices.
The CPOE system's interface allows physicians to build their own order sets, which hospital leaders hope will lead to high-rates of adoption.
"The selection of Sunrise Clinical Manager by The Brooklyn Hospital Center (http://www.healthcareitnews.com/informResults.cms?origin=8225&keywords=Brooklyn+Hospital+Center) reflects on the continued market recognition of the quality of our modern XA architecture," said R. Andrew Eckert (http://www.healthcareitnews.com/informResults.cms?origin=8225&keywords=R.+Andrew+Eckert), Eclipsys (http://www.healthcareitnews.com/informResults.cms?origin=8225&keywords=Eclipsys+Corporation) president and chief executive officer. "Eclipsys (http://www.healthcareitnews.com/informResults.cms?origin=8225&keywords=Eclipsys+Corporation) is very excited to work with The Brooklyn Hospital Center (http://www.healthcareitnews.com/informResults.cms?origin=8225&keywords=Brooklyn+Hospital+Center) and implement a system that helps the organization improve patient care outcomes as well as the patient experience."
TBHC's new software will be remotely hosted by the ISO 9001:2000-certified Eclipsys Technology Solutions Center (http://www.healthcareitnews.com/informResults.cms?origin=8225&keywords=Eclipsys+Technology+Solutions+Center) in Mountain Lakes, NJ.
