The AIM Program provides an alternative to restraint use, and a coordinated effort to increase the supervision of those residents found to be "at risk" for falls.

IPRO does not necessarily support all posted tools. However, in the spirit of collaboration, we have noted for your interest information shared by other nursing homes throughout the nation.

Hi,

Has anyone come across a decision algorithm for deciding what type of bed falls prevention equipment would be most appropriate for residents. For example, helping to decide when to use floor mats, low bed, rails, and/or concave mattress would be most appropriate? Thanks.

Hi all,

Has anyone come across any process indicators for a fall prevention program? We are trying to avoid the use of falls as an indicator so as to avoid the inclination to under report the falls. Has anyone used reporting of "close calls" as an indicator? For example, encouraging staff to share and document instances of residents that have had a near fall incident. This way, actually encouraging increasing the reporting of a measure that can potentially lower the likely of falls occurring. Any other suggestions? Thanks.
