Also New York University was looking for adjunct nursing instructors. Anyone interested should contact

Hi Gwen,

Did you receive your 12 credits?
Do you know if our Gap mates got theirs too?

I got an email from Zeynep that she is working on the grades, but needs updates from participants about their projects. I have had several meetings with Carmen and our team at St. Luke's to discuss how we can move our project forward. I will be working with Adelphi University to try to get students interested in our new residency program. As we mentioned in our class, the idea is to provide student nurses with a more comprehensive clinical experience so they are better prepared to enter the nursing workforce.

Mariefel, Gwen and All Other Gap Nurses:

We will be setting up a dedicated forum on Jeny for this type of discussion, but in the meantime this will do.

You are absolutely correct. The Gap Program is made up of 3-master's level courses, one of which is a Capstone Project. Typically this would involve a major reasearch paper, but in the case of the Gap Program, we are asking for a very brief report to fulfill the requirement.

I am waiting for progress reports from about half of you with bated breath. Grades to Lehman will be submitted today after which time, the credits will be awarded. Progress reports can be submitted individually or by team, though in this case, each team member will need to be involved in its preparation and should be aware of what is submitted.

Thanks for posting your discussion up here, but please feel free to contact me directly if you have other questions about the Gap Program requirements (212-258-5315.)

Zeynep

Was the report submitted by Carmen Schmidt sufficient? All members participated in its preparation.

Gwen-

Yes, thank you. Please feel free to post it up here on Jeny if you feel comfortable sharing it with others. I think SLR has made a lot of progress over the summer and it deserves highlighting this in a public forum.

Hi Marifel
Sorry that I have not been in touch for a while. I have still not received my teaching certificate , but I am working as a clinical adjunct for Adelphi University.

Hi Marifel
How are things? I have not logged on in quite some time. I am pleased to report that the St. Luke's Student Nurse Residency Program is coming along. We started out with only 8 applicants. This time, we had approx 30. We are also recruiting more preceptors and adjuncts. I believe the Lenox Hill program is also doing well with Lynette and Nadine taking the lead.

Hi Zeynep & Guys

Zeynep mentioned a forum dedicated to GAP, but I don't see it.
How are your GAP programs going? I think we should get together for a reunion and share notes. With the current economic climate and hospital closings, what are we doing to insure success for our students? How do we measure success?
