I just listened in on the CMS program on the notification of Hospital Discharge Appeal Rights. I have a couple of questions.
1. Will IPRO be sending any guidelines regarding this change to hospitals?
2. Am I correct from what is said that hospitals no longer issue continued stay denial letters?
3. We currently issue a skilled letter when a patient is no longer acute but waiting for an SNF bed. Do we still issue those letters?
Thanks for any help with clarifying these issues.

Suggest you visit the CMS Beneficiary Notice Initiative website below:

There are many "downloads" posted at the "Hospital Discharge Appeal" site, including Q's & A's about the new D/C appeal process, the new notices and the revised Medicare Claims Processing Manual, Chapter 30.
